Mangalore Buns
In this post, let’s see how to make Udupi- Mangalore famous mangalore buns. These buns are made using maida and banana. This can be had for breakfast or also as an evening time snack. Ingredients:
Ripe Banana - 2
Sugar - 1 tbsp
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds / Jeera - 1/2 tsp
Yogurt - 1/4 cup
All purpose flour/ Maida - 3 cups
Baking soda - 1/4 tsp
Oil - for deep frying
Recipe:
- Take 2 ripe bananas, mash them well with a fork or you can use hands to mash them.
- Add sugar, salt, cumin seeds and yogurt.
- Mix well.
- Now add all purpose flour/maida and mix well with a spoon until it forms a dough. It might look sticky, but don’t worry this is how the dough supposed to be.
- Drizzle little oil on top.
- Cover and let it rest for around 8 hours.
- Pinch a lemon size ball and dust it well in maida.
- Roll it using a rolling pin to a round shape. It should be little thick.
- Now deep fry these on hot oil. After dropping, reduce the flame to medium.
- Gently press with the spoon so that it puffs up nicely.
- Turn sides and fry on both sides.
- Take the buns out and drain it in a tissue paper.
- Tasty mangalore buns are ready! Serve it with coconut chutney and hot cup of tea and enjoy!
