In this post, let’s see how to make south indian famous recipe poori masala. Poori masala is usually had for breakfast. Poori is made up of wheat flour.  The best combo ever with poori is potato masala. In this video, we have shown how to make poori as well as potato masala. Ingredients:

For making Poori:

Wheat flour - 2 cups

Salt - 1 tsp (to taste)

Water - 3/4 cup

Oil - for deep frying 


For making masala :

Oil - 2 tbsp

Mustard - 1/2 tsp

Urad dhal - 1/2 tsp

Chana dhal - 1/2 tsp

Green Chilly - 2

Grated ginger - 1 tbsp

Onion - 2 (medium size)

Potato - 4 (medium size)

Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp

Salt - as required




Recipe:

For making poori:

  1. In a bowl, add wheat flour and salt.
  2. Mix everything well.
  3. Then add water little by little to form a smooth but firm dough.
  4. Cover and let it rest for around 15 minutes.
  5. Now pinch a small ball size dough and roll it into round shape.
  6. Flatten it using a rolling pin to a flat circle shaped poori.
  7. Dust flour slightly if needed. You can also spread some oil instead of flour.
  8. Spread it slightly thick and not so thin like chapathi.
  9. Now deep fry in hot oil.
  10. It easily puffs up, if not, you can just press it with spoon.
  11. Flip over to the other side and fry until golden brown.
  12. Hot pooris are ready!


For making masala:

  1. In a pan, add little oil.
  2. Once the oil is hot, add mustard. Let it splutter.
  3. Add little urad dhal, chana dhal, few curry leaves, slit green chilly and grated ginger.
  4. Saute well.
  5. Add sliced onions and little salt to fasten the cooking of onions.
  6. Saute this until translucent.
  7. Add boiled potato, little turmeric powder, required salt and mix well.
  8. Mash the potatoes well with spoon.
  9. Add little water and cook for around 5 minutes at low flame.
  10. Finally garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
