Broccoli White Sauce Pasta
In this blog, we are going to see how to make broccoli white sauce pasta. Pasta is an Italian dish, which has many varieties and there are also many ways of making it. White sauce pasta is one such variety in which white sauce is prepared using butter, flour, milk and added to garlic flavoured pasta. This is also very easy and quick dish to make. Ingredients:
Olive oil - 2 tbsp + 1 tsp
Salt - as required
Penne pasta - 2 cups
Chopped garlic - 2 tbsp
Onion - 1
Broccoli - 500 gm
Butter - 30 gm
All purpose flour/ Maida - 1/4 cup (30gm)
Milk - 2 cups
Red chilli flakes - as required
Pepper powder - as required
Recipe:
- In a vessel, boil water.
- When it is hot, add little salt and a tsp of olive oil.
- Add pasta and cook for around 10-15 minutes until soft.
- Drain the water and keep it aside.
- In a pan, add little olive oil.
- Add finely chopped garlic pieces and saute for just few seconds. Take care not to burn it.
- Add finely chopped onion and saute until translucent. Add little salt while cooking onions to fasten the process.
- Add broccoli which is cut into small florets.
- Add little water. Cover and cook until it is soft .
- Transfer the sautéed vegetables to a plate.
- In the same pan, add butter and all purpose flour.
- Mix this well for just 1 minute until it gives a sandy texture.
- Now add milk to this and stir continuously without any lumps until you get a sauce like consistency.
- White sauce is ready.
- Now let’s add sautéed vegetables and cooked pasta.
- Check the taste and add salt if required.
- Finally add red chilli flakes and pepper powder as per your taste.
- You can also make it even more richer by adding fresh cream or cheese which is purely optional .
- Hot, creamy broccoli white sauce pasta is ready to taste!
Notes:
- If you think the broccoli might contain any hidden worms, I would recommend to blanche the broccoli first in hot water and then add.
- If you a person who doesn’t want the paste to be too creamy, you can reduce the amount of ingredients mentioned in making white sauce to half.
