 MINI WHEAT SAMOSA



Samosa is a popular indian snack, which has potato stuffing inside. The outer layer is made of atta/flour and is deep fried in oil.

In this post, we are going to see how to make crispy north indian style mini samosa. Friends, do give a try to this recipe and share your feedback.


INGREDIENTS:

For dough:

Wheat flour - 3/4 cup

Semolina /Sooji - 1/4 cup

Salt - as required 

Ajwain - 1/2 tsp

Oil - 2 tbsp

Warm water - as required


For Masala:

Oil - 1 tbsp

Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp

Chopped green chilly - 2

Grated ginger - 1/2 inch piece

Hing - a pinch

Green peas - 2 tbsp

Boiled potato - 2

Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp

Chilly powder - 1/2 tsp

Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp

Garam masala - 1/4 tsp

Cumin powder - 1/4 tsp

Amchur powder - 1/4 tsp

Salt - as required

Chopped Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp





Recipe:

  1. In a bowl, add wheat flour, sooji, salt.
  2. Crush ajwain between palm and add it.
  3. Add little oil and mix well until you could hold shape.
  4. Now add warm warm water little by little and knead it to a soft dough.
  5. Grease little oil on the top of the dough.
  6. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  7. Meanwhile in a pan, add little oil.
  8. Add cumin seeds, chopped green chilly, grated ginger and a generous pinch of hing.
  9. Once its fried well, add fresh green peas and saute for just 1 or 2 minutes.
  10. Now add boiled potato and all masala powders.
  11. Saute well until everything is well combined.
  12. Add required salt and finally garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  13. Let it cool down.
  14. Now roll the dough which we have prepared already into log shape.
  15. Cut into small equal pieces.
  16. Flatten each piece into oval shape and roll it as thin as possible.
  17. Cut into two. 
  18. Take one half, apply water on sides and roll into cone shape.
  19. Keep 1 or 2 tsp of masala inside.
  20. Apply water on the sides and seal the edges.
  21. Now deep fry these in oil at medium flame.
  22. Turn sides and fry until golden brown.
  23. Crispy, tasty wheat samosas are ready to serve.
  24. Do try it with a hot cup of chai/tea and enjoy !
