EGG PUFF
Egg puff is an easy and tasty Indian snack, where onion stuffed masala and boiled egg are placed in a pastry sheet at baked in oven. This is usually most people’s favourite snack. In this video, we will see how to make these egg puff easily at home using store bought pastry sheets. This recipes gives exactly the same taste of the puffs which we get in bakeries. Ingredients :
Oil - 2 tbsp
Curry leaves - few
Onions - 2
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
Salt - as required
Tomato ketchup - 2 tbsp
Boiled egg - 4
Pastry sheet (size 10cm*10cm) - 8
Egg for wash - 1
Recipe:
- Boil eggs and keep it aside.
- In a pan, add little oil.
- Add curry leaves, thinly sliced onions and saute until golden brown.
- Add ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell leaves.
- Once the raw smell leaves, start adding all the masala powders (turmeric powder, chilly powder, pepper powder, garam masala).
- Saute for 2 minutes until the masala smell leaves.
- Finally add in required salt and tomato ketchup.
- Mix everything quickly and remove from stove.
- Now let’s start stuffing the masala and egg in pastry sheet.
- I have used store bought pastry sheets here. Cut the sheets into square size of 10cm*10cm.
- Place 1 or 2 tbsp of masala in the centre.
- Cut the boiled eggs into half. Keep one half of egg above the masala.
- Close and seal the edges of the sheet using water.
- Beat one egg separatly in a bowl.
- Finally brush it on the top of the pastry sheet.
- Now arrange these on a baking tray lined with parchment paper or aluminium foil.
- Preheat and bake in the oven at 180 degrees celsius for around 15-20 minutes until the top layer of puff changes into golden brown colour.
- Now our tasty evening snack egg puff is ready to serve.
