Mushroom briyani is one of our favourite food at our home, that we end up making this at least once in a week. As I am a biryani lover, I try exploring all type of biryanis. I always wish for beautiful textured rice with the right amount of spices. This is one main requirement for a biryani to taste perfect for me. This recipe is one such after attempting many trials, this has become my perfect biryani recipe.


This mushroom biryani is easily made as a one pot dish using an electric cooker and also requires only a limited amount of time. If you follow the steps correctly, you will get a flavourful, non sticky briyani.


In this post, let’s see how to make tasty, flavourful mushroom biryani in an electric cooker. This mushroom biryani tastes amazing and also gives a non sticky texture with tips and tricks included in this video. Ingredients:

Basmati rice - 1 1/2 cup (300 gm)

Ghee - 3 tsp

Oil - 2 tbsp

Cinnamon - 1 small piece

Cloves - 2

Bay leaf - 1

Cardamom - 1

Fennel seeds - 1 tsp

Onion - 2

Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp

Tomatoes - 2

Mushroom - 350 gm

Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp

Chilly powder - 1/2 tsp

Garam masala - 1/4 tsp

Salt - as required

Coriander leaves - handful (chopped)

Mint leaves - handful (chopped)


Recipe:

  1. Wash and soak basmati rice for around 30 minutes.
  2. After 30 minutes, drain the water and keep it aside.
  3. In a pan, add a tsp of ghee.
  4. Add the soaked rice and sauté well for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Now transfer it to the electric cooker.
  6. In the same pan, add 1 more tsp of ghee.
  7. Along with that, add around 2 tbsp of oil.
  8. Add in all spices and let it fry well in that oil and ghee.
  9. Now add in thinly sliced onions and sauté until brown.
  10. Once the colour of the onions turn brown, add ginger garlic paste.
  11. Sauté until the raw smell leaves.
  12. Now add in finely chopped tomatoes and sauté until mushy.
  13. Add in all masala powders (turmeric, chilly and garam masala) and sauté for 1 minutes.
  14. Now let’s add the chopped mushrooms, coriander leaves and mint leaves.
  15. Sauté well for 2 minutes.
  16. Now transfer this to the electric cooker.
  17. Add in around 2 1/4 cup of water ie. for 1 cup rice, we need to add 1.5 cup of water.Here we have taken 1.5 cup of rice, so we need to add 2.25 cup of water.
  18. Add in required salt and add in around 1 tsp of ghee for flavour at the end.
  19. Cover and switch on the electric cooker.
  20. Once the electric cooker is switched off, flavourful mushroom biryani is ready to be served.
  21. Serve it with raita, papad and enjoy!
