BEANS CARROT THORAN
The name `Thoran` is a typical Kerala dish, where we cook vegetables until soft and then flavour it with ground coconut. Here we are going to see how to make beans carrot thoran in this video. Friends, do give a try and let us know your feedback.
Ingredients:
Chopped carrot - 1 cup
Chopped beans - 1 cup
Salt - as required
To grind:
Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
Garlic pod - 1
For seasoning:
Oil - 1 tbsp
Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Urad dhal - 1/2 tsp
Red chilly - 1
Curry leaves - few
Recipe:
- In a mixie jar, add the grated coconut, turmeric powder, chilly powder, garlic pod and cumin seeds.
- Grind this to a coarse mixture and keep it aside.
- In a pan, add chopped beans and carrot.
- Add required salt.
- Add little water, just enough for the vegetables to cook.
- Cover and cook until the vegetables are soft enough.
- Once the vegetables are cooked well, add the ground coconut mixture.
- Mix well, simmer and cook for 2 minutes until the raw smell of coconut leaves.
- Foe seasoning, add little oil in a small pan.
- Add mustard and let it splutter.
- Add urad dhal, red chilly and few curry leaves.
- Fry well.
- Finally add to cooked vegetables mixture.
- Now beans carrot thoran is ready to serve.
