Vanilla birthday cake | How to make birthday cake at home


 In this post, we will see how to make basic vanilla birthday cake at home. This cake is soft and light in texture.Friends, do give a try to this cake and surprise your loved ones.

Vanilla birthday cake 

Ingredients :

All purpose flour - 1 1/2 cup

Baking powder - 1 1/2 tsp

Salt - 1/4 tsp

Butter - 1/2 cup ( 100gm)

Sugar - 1 cup

Vanilla essence - 1 tsp

Eggs - 2

Milk - 1/2 cup


To make Buttercream:

Butter - 3/4 cup ( 150gm)

Powdered sugar - 3 cups (300gm)

Vanilla essence - 1 tsp

Milk - 2 tbsp

Pink colour - few drops 







Recipe :

  1. Sift all purpose flour, baking powder, salt and keep it aside.
  2. In a bowl, add butter and beat using an electric beater until soft.
  3. Add sugar, vanilla essence and beat at high speed for around 5 minutes.
  4. Add yolks of 2 eggs and beat well.
  5. Now start adding the sifted fry ingredients in portions.
  6. Beat at low speed.
  7. To adjust the consistency of batter, add 1/2 cup milk gradually.
  8. Beat until everything is well combined.
  9. In a separate bowl, add whites of egg and beat well until frothy.
  10. Add this to the cake batter and fold in gently. Cake batter is ready.
  11. Take 16 cm round cake pans.
  12. Butter or spray with little oil and line it with parchment paper.
  13. Divide the cake batter equally in two pans.
  14. Preheat and bake at 180 degrees Celsius for 25-30 minutes.
  15. Check if the cake is done by inserting a toothpick. It should come out clean.
  16. Once the cake is cooled down, go through the sides of the cake with a knife.
  17. Take the cake out of the cake pan.
  18. Cut the cake at the top slightly to level it.
  19. Keep it aside.
  20. To make the buttercream, add butter to a bowl and beat well until soft.
  21. Add vanilla essence, powdered sugar and beat well until soft and creamy.
  22. Add in pink colour and little milk to adjust the consistency.
  23. Beat well until soft.
  24. To assemble the cake, keep a layer of cake.
  25. Place small parchment sheets around the cake to clean up the extra cream after frosting.
  26. Place 1-2 tbsp of butter cream and spread evenly.
  27. Place another cake layer and repeat the same.
  28. Spread cream around the cake too.
  29. Fill in the piping bag with buttercream. 
  30. Use a star nozzle. Swirl and make designs all over the cake as shown in the video .
