Punjabi style Rajma gravy
In this post, let’s see how to make a punjabi style rajma gravy. It is made by boiling rajma separately and cooked along with onion tomato paste sautéed with flavourful masalas. Serves : 5-6
Ingredients:
Rajma - 1 cup
Oil - 2-3 tbsp
Onion - 2
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Tomato - 1 1/2
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Chilly powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
Kasthuri methi leaves - 1 tsp
Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp
Salt - as required
Recipe :
- Wash and soak rajma for 5-6 hours.
- Add soaked rajma to a pressure cooker .
- Add required salt, water and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
- Once the pressure is released, check if it’s cooked well .
- Now in a pan, add little oil.
- Add onion which is cut into thin slices.
- Add little salt and saute well until brown.
- Add a tbsp of ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell leaves.
- Now add finely chopped tomatoes and saute until mushy.
- Now let’s add all the masala powders ( turmeric, chilly and coriander powder) and mix well for 1-2 minutes.
- Let’s cool it down and grind it to a fine paste.
- Now in a vessel, add ground onion tomato paste and boiled rajma and mix well.
- Add required salt and garam masala at this stage.
- Mix well and simmer and cook until the oil separates.
- Finally garnish with some kasthuri methi leaves and chopped coriander leaves.
- Our tasty punjabi style rajma gravy is ready !
