 Besan Murukku



I had bookmarked this recipe long time back.  When I tried for the first time itself it was a hit. I got the perfect, crispy taste.Thanks to rakskitchen for this recipe. 


Besan murukku/ besan chakli is a easy murukku recipe which could be tried even by a beginner. Friends, do give a try to this simple recipe and share your valuable feedback . 


Ingredients :

  • Rice flour - 1 cup
  • Besan flour - 1/2 cup
  • Crushed pepper - 1 tsp
  • Ajwain - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/8 tsp
  • Salt - as required
  • Asafoetida - a generous pinch 
  • Butter - 1 tsp
  • Hot oil - 1 tsp
  • Oil - for deep frying 


Recipe :

  1. In a bowl, add rice flour, besan flour, crushed pepper, ajwain, little turmeric powder for the colour, salt, a generous pinch of asafoetida, a tsp of butter and a tsp of hot oil.
  2. Mix everything well with the hand .
  3. Now pour in water little by little and knead it to a soft dough.
  4. Now roll into small ball and place it inside the idiyappam pressing stand.
  5. Here I have used the star nozzle.
  6. Take a flat spoon , grease it with little oil.
  7. Now press and make round shape murukku on the spoon.
  8. Deep fry these in hot oil.
  9. When one side is fried well, flip over to the other.
  10. Fry until the sizzling oil sound stops.
  11. Crispy, tasty besan murukku is ready in no time! Enjoy these with a hot cup of chai !
