- Sift all the dry ingredients ( all purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt) and keep it aside .
- In a bowl , add 1/2 cup butter.
- Add 3/4 cup sugar to this and beat well .
- Add 2 eggs , one at a time and beat well.
- Add a tsp if vanilla essence .
- Once it’s all beaten well , gradually add the sifted flour and beat well at low speed.
- To adjust the consistency of batter , add 1/2 cup milk .
- Now line a rectangular cake mould with parchment paper or you can spread some butter and dust with flour .
- Pour in the cake batter and tap it twice before keeping inside the oven .
- Preheat the oven and bake at 180 degrees for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Once the cake is done , allow it to cool down .
To prepare chocolate ganache :
- Take equal quantities of chocolate and whip cream.
- Heat the whip cream to warm and add it to the chopped chocolate:
- Mix well until smooth.
Now just pour the chocolate ganache over the chocolate pound cake . Cut into pieces and enjoy !
Notes :
- As we are adding ganache over the cake , I have added 3/4 cup sugar in this recipe . If you want more sweetness in your pound cake , you can even add upto 1 cup sugar .
- I like the chocolate ganache to be little flowing , so I have taken equal quantity of both, but if you want it to be little more thick , you can add 2 parts of chocolate for 1 part of whip cream.
