Gulab jamun cake
Gulab jamun cake is a fusion of normal vanilla cake with famous Indian sweet called gulab jamun. These jamuns are made using milk powder , fried as balls in oil and soaked in sugar syrup . This sweet is mostly everyone’s favourite and also a must go sweet in party menu’s . This gulab jamun cake is made by preparing an eggless basic vanilla cake soaked in sugar syrup and frosted with whipped cream , finally decorated with these gulab jamuns . This cake gives the flavour of Indian sweet . Friends , please do try this fusion cake and let us know how it turns .

Ingredients:
For cake :
Buttermilk - 1 cup
Sugar - 1/2 cup
Melted butter or oil - 1/4 cup
All purpose flour - 1 cup
Baking powder - 1/2 tsp
Baking soda - 1/4 tsp
Gulab jamuns with sugar syrup - 8
For frosting :
Whip cream - 1.5 cup
Powdered sugar - 1/4 cup
Rose essence - 1/2 tsp
Recipe :
- Take a 16 cm round cake mould . Grease it with little oil or butter .
- Place a parchment paper or dust with flour .
- In a bowl , add all the wet ingredients and mix well.
- Sift the dry ingredients into it and combine both dry and wet.
- Pour it in the greased cake pan. Tap it before keeping inside the oven to avoid air bubbles .
- Bake it in preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for about 30 - 35 minutes.
- Once it’s done , check with by inserting a toothpick or a knife . It should come out clean .
- Cool down the cake .
For frosting :
- Beat whip cream , powdered sugar , rose essence until soft peaks .
- You can use a electric beater or a hand whisk .
Assembling the cake :
- Cut the cake into two halves .
- Cut the gulab jamun horizontally into 4 pieces. Use the inner round pieces for decorating inside the cake . The two end pices could be used to decorate on the top .
- Before starting frosting , keep parchment papers around the cake so that we could easily remove the extra frosting without getting messy .
- Spread sugar syrup generously.
- Above that, place 2-3 tbsp of whip cream and spread evenly.
- Place the other half of the cake and repeat the same .
- Cover the entire cake with whipped cream
- Finally garnish with chopped pistachios and gulab jamun pieces on top .
Notes :
- If you need more flavour of gulab jamun in your cake , you can even reduce 1/4th cup of all purpose flour and replace it with gulab jamun mix powder ie. 3/4th cup all purpose flour and 1/4 the cup gulab jamun mix powder .
- You can also use store bought gulab jamuns for this recipe . If you are using dry gulab jamuns , make sugar syrup by boiling quarter cup sugar with quarter cup of water and few cardamom pods . Boil until the syrup thickens .
