Cauliflower pakoda
Cauliflower or Gopi pakoda is an easy and quick starter. These pakodas are made by making a batter using gram flour . The cauliflower florets are then dipped in this batter and deep fried . For crispness , we add little rice flour. This is a quick starter which can be made easily for parties and get together or as a evening snack which can be enjoyed with a hot cup of tea . Ingredients :
Cauliflower florets - 250 gm
Gram flour - 1/2 cup
Rice flour - 1/4 cup
Chilly powder - 2 tsp
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp ( a generous pinch )
Salt
Chopped Curry leaves - 2 tbsp
Water - 3/4 cup
Oil ( for frying )
Recipe :
- Cut cauliflower into small florets .
- Soak it in hot water for around 2 minutes .
- Strain the florets and keep it aside .
- In a bowl , add gram flour , rice flour , chilly powder , asafoetida, chopped curry leaves, required salt and mix well .
- Add about 3/4th cup water and mix well into smooth batter .
- The consistency of the batter will be neither thick nor runny.
- Add in the cauliflower florets and coat it well in the batter .
- Heat oil and deep fry these cauliflower florets .
- Flip over the sides.
- Crispy cauliflower pakoda is ready to enjoy !
Notes :
- You can also add chopped coriander leaves in the batter . (optional)
- Don’t soak the cauliflower florets in hot water for long as it will become soft and soggy while frying .
